Inov8 released information and pictures for their future CrossFit specific shoe: the Bare-XF 210. Featuring a 3mm, zero differential sole (the height difference between heel and toe is 0, vs. many typical shoes in the 10+ mm range), and a specially reinforced upper that will handle the beatings from rope climbs, this is theoretically the perfect CrossFit shoe. Ready for the unknown and unknowable. However, the release date is supposedly
What do you think of the Inov8 Bare-XF 210's? Would you buy these or stick with your current Inov8s, Vibrams, Frees, etc?
Are there other features in a shoe that you would look for to aid you in CF WODs?
UPDATE 12/23/11: After seeing so many hits on this particular post, it looks like plenty of folks are researching the Bare-XF 210's. Here is Inov-8's link to the shoe, the link to Rogue's product page so you can buy them, and a video from Inov-8 showcasing the XF 210's.
I'm someone who needs to try on shoes and walk, run and jump around in them before making a decision. That's my big hang up with Inov8s is that you can't try them on in a store.
ReplyDeleteA lot of people at CFDV have the 230s and 195s and tear through them pretty quickly. This new shoe looks like a little bit thicker material and I really like the zero drop, but again I'd have to try it on my own feet before deciding. But, it's looking like a well-rounded crossfit shoe.
I bought a pair of vibrams last year and wore them on and off for the summer. I think they're fine for a casual shoe, and training yourself in POSE and Barefoot running technique, but I'm not a fan of working out in them.
I really like my 3.0 frees, I can run 13.1 in them, use them for lifting in wods and they are good for things like double unders and rope climbs too. I have a pair of 5.0s, little thicker sole that I've had for a year and are still going strong and I think the 3.0s should last just as long.
ReplyDeleteI haven't tried the innovs but it does seem like they wear quickly, it could be the person, or the shoe, or a combination of both. I haven't braved the vibrams yet. People already wear the innov shoe for crossfit so I thinknif you like them you may give their crossfit shoe a try when you need your next pair.
Try the New Balance Minimus... awesome shoe!
ReplyDeleteBorn To Run store has pre-order for this shoe. It won't be coming out in March, but January. Awesome! http://i.borntorun.com/vEWFsW
